2026 Jeep Recon
2026 Mercedes EQE SUV

Safety

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Recon. But it costs extra on the EQE SUV.

The Jeep Recon’s 360-degree camera has integrated front and rear camera washers, ensuring clear, all-weather visibility without the need for manual cleaning. In contrast, the Mercedes EQE SUV lacks camera washers, requiring you to manually clean the cameras for optimal performance.

Both the Recon and the EQE SUV have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

Warranty

Jeep’s powertrain warranty covers the Recon 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Mercedes covers the EQE SUV. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the EQE SUV ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are over 6 times as many Jeep dealers as there are Mercedes dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Recon’s warranty.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Jeep vehicles are better in initial quality than Mercedes vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Jeep above average in initial quality. With 24 more problems per 100 vehicles, Mercedes is rated below average.

Engine

The Recon’s electric motors produces 335 more horsepower (650 vs. 315) and 203 lbs.-ft. more torque (620 vs. 417) than the EQE SUV 320+’s standard electric motor. The Recon’s electric motors produces 335 more horsepower (650 vs. 315) and 56 lbs.-ft. more torque (620 vs. 564) than the EQE SUV 320 4MATIC’s standard electric motors.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the Recon gets better mileage than the AMG EQE SUV (91 city/70 hwy vs. 76 city/72 hwy MPGe).

The Recon can travel longer on a full charge than the AMG EQE SUV (250 miles vs. 230 miles).

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Recon has larger tires than the EQE SUV (265/70R18 vs. 255/45R20).

The Recon has a standard full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the EQE SUV; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed. Some tire options on the EQE SUV don’t have a run-flat feature, either.

Suspension and Handling

For greater off-road capability the Recon has a 3.9 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the EQE SUV (9.1 vs. 5.2 inches), allowing the Recon to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Recon’s minimum ground clearance is 1.5 inches higher than on the AMG EQE SUV (9.1 vs. 7.6 inches).

Passenger Space

The Recon has 2.8 inches more front headroom, .8 inches more front legroom, 1.2 inches more rear headroom and .6 inches more rear shoulder room than the EQE SUV.

Cargo Capacity

The Recon has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the EQE SUV with its rear seat up (30.3 vs. 14 cubic feet). The Recon has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the EQE SUV with its rear seat folded (65.9 vs. 55 cubic feet).

A standard locking center console keeps your small valuables safer in the Recon. The EQE SUV doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

Towing

The Recon’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the EQE SUV’s (3300 vs. 0 pounds).

Trailer Sway Control is standard on the Recon, using the Electronic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. A trailer sway program costs extra on the EQE SUV.

Ergonomics

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Recon to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. Heated windshield washer nozzles cost extra on the EQE SUV.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Recon has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the EQE SUV only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

The Recon has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the EQE SUV.

The Recon has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The EQE SUV doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
