Safety

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The ProMaster EV has standard ParkSense with Stop that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The eSprinter doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

Both the ProMaster EV and the eSprinter have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

Warranty

Ram’s powertrain warranty covers the ProMaster EV 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Mercedes covers the eSprinter. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the eSprinter ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are over 6 times as many Ram dealers as there are Mercedes dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the ProMaster EV’s warranty.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Ram vehicles are more reliable than Mercedes With 1 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Ram higher than Mercedes.

The ProMaster EV’s electric motor produces 134 more horsepower (268 vs. 134) and 7 lbs.-ft. more torque (302 vs. 295) than the eSprinter’s standard electric motor. The ProMaster EV’s electric motor produces 67 more horsepower (268 vs. 201) and 7 lbs.-ft. more torque (302 vs. 295) than the eSprinter’s optional electric motor.

Suspension and Handling

The ProMaster EV has standard front and rear gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. The eSprinter’s suspension doesn’t offer gas-charged shocks.

The front suspension of the ProMaster EV uses coil springs for better ride, handling and control than the eSprinter, which uses leaf springs. Coil springs compress more progressively and offer more suspension travel for a smoother ride with less bottoming out.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the ProMaster EV’s wheelbase is 15 inches longer than on the eSprinter (159 inches vs. 144 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the ProMaster EV is 4.1 inches wider in the front and 2.3 inches wider in the rear than on the eSprinter.

For better maneuverability, the ProMaster EV’s turning circle is 5.2 feet tighter than the eSprinter’s (46.8 feet vs. 52 feet).

Chassis

Towing

The ProMaster EV’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the eSprinter’s (6410 vs. 4100 pounds).

Ergonomics

The ProMaster EV’s standard Keyless Enter ‘n Go allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, unlock the cargo door, and start the van, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Keyless-Start standard on the eSprinter only offers hands-free access for the ignition, none to unlock the van.

In addition to the standard right side sliding door, the Ram ProMaster EV offers an optional driver’s side rear sliding door. This door simplifies loading and unloading passengers and it allows parents to easily secure two children into child seats. The eSprinter doesn’t offer a driver’s side rear door.

The ProMaster EV has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the eSprinter.

Compared to traditional radio, the Ram ProMaster EV’s standard SiriusXM satellite radio provides an unmatched listening experience. Its extensive coverage guarantees consistent, crystal-clear reception across the continental U.S., and access to over 100 channels dedicated to a multitude of genres, including music, news, sports, talk shows, and comedy, many with only limited commercial breaks. Satellite radio costs extra on the eSprinter.

Recommendations

The Ram ProMaster outsold the Mercedes Sprinter by 50% during 2025.
